Adobe Illustrator - Waffle Truck Logo

Adobe Illustrator

This particular artifact was a required project for my CIS 120DB Adobe Illustrator class I took fall of 2017. The instructor wanted everyone to produce a waffle truck logo. The mandated criteria included the use of 2 effects, appropriate typography that fits logo theme and a good balance and scalability.
This project really challenged me in several ways. One was working under a time crunch and the other was my creativity or lack thereof. I hadn’t the slightest clue where to start. So I decided to do a google search on waffle trucks. After looking at a few images online my limited creative juices started to flow. I learned how to seek inspiration to complete a task at hand on time in spite of my inabilities.
My biggest feat was figuring out how to draw the truck body and the waffle. As a result, I researched tutorials, both video and written. The tutorials served as resourceful aids in guiding me through the initial development of constructing both the truck and waffle. Once I constructed the main body of each component my objective was to uniquely tailor them to make them my own. Once I got the main body of the truck designed and the initial waffle, my creative juices started to flow.
Skills I acquired with this project was how to use shading to create depth and how to manipulate a shape using anchor points. Manipulating one object to create several variations was another skill I mastered. From one waffle I produced two distinctly different ones. I also learned how to make use of tools in the pathfinder panel such as the divide and unite tools. Other features I grasped was the anchor point and stroke tools.
The outcome for creating this illustration was for direct application. The objective was to use the skills and techniques acquired to produce a project that I would be able to add to a personal portfolio at some point. Today this is exactly what I am using this project for. I’m delighted to have went through the process of creating this artifact. And now I’m embracing the opportunity to showcase it. What started off as a stressful project turned into an exciting learning opportunity. This project illustrates my determination to problem-solve, to overcome inadequacies, acquire new skills and to enjoy the learning process.
Skills learned and outcomes were the reflection questions that had me stump. I had to go back into my course syllabi to review outcomes. And I had to open up my graphic in illustrator to refresh my mind on skills learned. Going back to review brought the process back to remembrance. Easier reflection questions were describing the artifact and challenges. Whenever I create something, I have a strong tendency to remember the learning curve I was challenged with. For me it’s easier to remember the sweat and tears I poor into accomplishing a task.

Adobe Photoshop - Uniform Infographic

Uniform Info-graphic  This artifact is selected because it shows some of my Photoshop competencies. The image was created as an info-graphic to highlight uniform codes for aides. My department heads sought me out to develop some training material, so I volunteered newfound abilities. I envisioned how to convey our uniform guidelines both visually and succinctly. The required me understanding our Uniform guidelines within our Standard Operating Procedures.  It required me working collaboratively with my department. I sought out aides to take photos of them in their uniforms. From there I had to upload the photos and then import them in Photoshop. Once I juxtaposed the images with the text to produce this info-graphic. Illustrated here is what I came up with. This project shows I can produce visual aids for training material.

Adobe Photoshop - Invite Poster

Poster Invite I selected this piece primarily because it reflects me working under pressure with no creative direction from the one requesting my assistance. This project was a direct request from my manager. Therefore, the challenge lied in producing his request on short notice. I agreed, in the midst of an extremely demanding time of the semester. Other challenges were fulfilling a request with no creative direction from him. The only direction provided was the commander’s favorite color and sport.  In spite of the lack, I answered the call of applying my newfound skills under pressure. I used Google Images “labeled for reuse with modification” tool to select the images for this flyer. From there I employed the skills acquired in class to select the images into the Photoshop document. Then for color scheme I thought of using the college’s color and mascot themes. And behold here was my finally result. Completing this invite showed I have what it takes to make poster unde...

Adobe Illustrator - Infographic

ADOBE Illustrator – Info-graphic The theme of this piece is highlighting the services public safety offers to our campus community. I wanted to produce a quick and easy illustration of the services we provide. In order to produce such an illustration, I knew I needed to create a decent amount of graphics to visually convey our services. Thinking about what graphics would be most fitting was the initial challenge. As I knew I would need to demonstrate our services in a clear and concise manner. The next challenge was figuring out how I would create the illustrations, knowing that I lack creativity and I’m not that familiar with the tools in illustrator. As a result, I searched for relevant images to help with the conceptualization aspect. Once I was able to visualize the service, I began playing around with the tools to formulate the creation of each graphic.   Some pieces were extremely difficult to create. The lower body of the golf cart and the actual cables for the ju...
